Life at Burnaby Lake
Here are my shots of ducks and geese at Burnaby Lake here near me. The gentle flow of the ducks makes me think of the flow of time as we keep incarnating to the earth. The water and vegetation remind me of this beautiful planet which we keep inhabiting. "God is in everything I see because God is in me." Every one and everything is my brother.

Joseph Shore--Amazing Grace 2015
Переглядів 7894 роки тому
After 5 open heart surgeries I still continued to try to sing. Fighting for breath and tone on every phrase it was somehow important to me that I continue to try to sing. The singing is, of course, not as good as when I was in my prime. It could not be. But my continued effort to sing was a part of my gratefulness to God for the gift He gave me. The pictures of the wild areas here in Vancouver ...

This is my view of this old song. The creative art in music taken mental energy to sense the phrase in a certain way and it takes an inner awareness of some gestalt. There must be a whole of which you and the music are a part. If you stay an observer, presenting the song then your art is dualistic! I am interested in Advaita in art, the manifestation which comes when the mind senses one, not tw...

This comes from the early 1970's when I was singing songs like these in churchs. It gives a good hearing to my voice in its early stages. That is a high A flat at the end.

I have published other times when I have sung this, but this is a lost version where I sang it with orchestra in the tenor key. The high section at the end is difficult for any tenor.

Two tenor arias from a Verdi baritone. Maybe I will be a tenor next time! My mentor, Jerome Hines, said to me, "Joe you're the only baritone I know who has the brain of a tenor!" Was that a compliment? I'm not sure. :)

Just for fun here is a tenor aria from me, and old Verdi baritone :) I am 71 and have had four open heart surgeries and have about a half of one lung. So keep singing as long as you can. :)
Joseph Shore-- To Celia, Drink to me only with thine eyes
Переглядів 1775 років тому
Ben Jonson's 1616 poem "Song. To Celia." I recorded this around 1995. Drink to me only with thine eyes, And I will pledge with mine; Or leave a kiss within the cup And I'll not ask for wine. The thirst that from the soul doth rise Doth ask a drink divine; But might I of Jove's nectar sup, I would not change for thine. I sent thee late a rosy wreath, Not so much honoring thee As giving it a hope...

From 1974 until 2005, Joseph Shore was among the top Verdi Baritones in the world of opera, but like many other opera singers, he began by singing in church. These two worship songs will show the way in which Mr. Shore used his singing in church. He is currently an ordained Interfaith minister.

This is an in house tape from the audience in the balcony. Sometimes it is more interesting to hear how the voices carried in the house. Some voices sound much bigger in the house than they do on recordings, like Del Monaco for example. My voice was always bigger in the house than on recordings. The BBC also recorded this performance from Belfast but I had someone in the audience tape each nigh...

Kind of strange for those who are used to hear Rightous Bros. Nevertheless, Hines' voice is impressive and of course operatic which gives a different impression when listened to.

Ну какому уникуму пришло в голову вставить сцену попытки Бориса зарезать царевича? Если не понимаете русской классики - не лезьте к ней. Jerome Hines играет какого - то дракулу, а не Бориса Годунова.

By 1962 Hotter was no longer a baritone, but instead a basso cantante. Hines was also a basso cantante, but his voice had the weight and darkness of a basso profondo, unlike Hotter's. The Inquisitor should really have a deeper voice than the Filippo. A deeper sound than that Hines produced would have been unobtainable, but a real basso profondo like Emanuel List was has a slightly deeper scale than Hines did. This duet is superbly sung by both men. Hotter's low E is fine, and Hines negotiates his final killer line with much aplomb.

I had the great privilege of taking a master class at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philly in the early 80s with Maestro Hines. He was brutally honest and direct with all of us. He was indeed a world class Bass, but his Wotan was also one of the greatest of all times.

He always spoke of how difficult this role was for him. Here he is tossing it off in a manner few could today. Ißm sure the wisdom of a mature singer made the difference. Wish he has sung it more! but I am grateful for this video. Barstow was a force to be reckoned with. Thank you for the upload.
